About
My journey into psychotherapy began while I was in graduate school at SFU. I was writing a thesis on medieval mysticism and abjection and during this process, engaged in psychotherapy. I became immersed in Freudian, post-Freudian, object relations and Jungian psychoanalysis. Fascinated, but young, I set aside these teachings. They simmered, sending me glimmers. Twenty years later, as an apprentice, I returned to psychotherapy before undertaking my diploma in counselling.
My practice is based upon the work of Dan Siegel (Interpersonal Neurobiology), Sue Johnson (EFT), Deb Dana (Polyvagal Theory), Pat Odgen and Janina Fisher (Sensorimotor psychotherapy), Heartmath, Mindfulness Self Compassion (Germer and Neff), the work of Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Mate, the spiritual teachings of Jeddah Mali and Buddhist Psychology.
Continuing my studies is hugely important. Learning new tools expands my capacity to offer guidance. Recent studies of mine include: Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Polyvagal Theory, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Mindfulness Self Compassion, PACT training (couples counselling from Stan Tatkin), EFT for Couples from Sue Johnson, Dick Schwartz’s IFS (internal family systems), and the work of the late Bert Hellinger.
healing through compassion
The mind is powerful. When we apply knowledge about ourselves toward new paths and behaviours, positive changes occur.
We are always evolving as human beings. I value the opportunity to work with you.
