healing through compassion

Welcome. Recent discoveries in neuroscience have confirmed the mind-body link. We are imprinted with early experiences, our bodies remember and can trigger unwanted responses later in life. Acknowledging and integrating these patterns through narrative and somatic practices allows us to transcend into healthier and happier human beings.

Julia Steele

Psychotherapy is about becoming more friendly towards oneself. By opening up to ourselves, we naturally open up to the joy of others and the possibilities of life itself. My approach focuses on making the connection between unprocessed grief and loss, shame and anxiety and meeting it all with compassion.

Transformation is possible.

My counselling practice is based in my home in Revelstoke. A quiet, safe space ensures privacy and comfort while making personal investigations. Couples can feel relaxed in an intimate, non-institutional setting. Our sessions are guided conversations, moving you toward greater well-being and synchronicity.

In therapy, we seek to “name it to tame it” as a way of integrating whatever suffering we are holding from old, buried, poorly understood experiences. We bring the light of conscious compassion to whatever has been misunderstood and pushed into darkness.

For adults ages 18 years and older, and couples, I can help with relationships, spiritual inquiry, removing blocks to self-activation, grief and loss counselling, the development of an informed unconscious, and the desire for change. I do no formal assessment or diagnosis.

We will use various techniques including guided meditation (short and long) and movement practices to help regulate the nervous system and elevate consciousness, making perspective more readily available. Meditation practices aid with sleep, somatic and emotional stress, opening avenues to experience beingness and essential nature.

Mindfulness, movement, yoga nidra, Buddhist psychology, interpersonal neurobiology, heart math and family systems theory inform my work. Healing is gentle.

We can work on:

  • Relationships, including couples work
  • Life transitions, including grief and loss
  • Anxiety and stress from current situations and past integrated experiences
